Version 3; Round 13 Tipping

Tip away ladies and gentlemen.

A couple of people are either dropping out or forgetting to tip in time. Note that if you email me I'll email you my mobile number which will make texting your tips an option (Cecilia and Tony did this last week). If you email me your mobile I'll even text you a reminder on the last day.

Well I'm glad the Roar are keeping me happy because The Red Eye Pirates lost again last night 10:8 (yep, 18 goals in 40 minutes). An exciting game for sure, and a lot of our game is coming together, but we were well outplayed. I was goalkeeper as usual and every one of their 10 goals hurt. The 'Ottoman Empire' attacked in force - in 2s and 3s, and had a brilliant crossing game which made it very hard, as whenever I came out I was leaving space behind me for the receiver of a well-timed cross. Their swamping attacking game also explains largely how we got so many on the counter. There's lot's we have to think about.

And The West End Terrors also lost their game last week against the 'Mad Mongolians', 3:2. The boys struggled to find their form after a week off and were down 3:0 at half time before getting themselves together and coming very close to a full equalisation. A learning experience for them too.

Anyway, the Roar at least are keeping me happy. Good to split your emotional investments.

May the games this week, oh infinite so incomprehensible, be fair, beautiful and free of serious injury.

Peace.

This will be another interesting round with so many NT absentees. I really feel sorry for Perth; IMO they could have gone on a bit of a roll after last week, but their two scorers from last week, their most consistent player of the season (Hyphen), and their most creative player (Bertos) are all out.

Anyway:

QR 2-1 MV
WP 1-2 SFC
AU 0-1 NUJ
PG 0-2 CCM

Roar 2 Vics 1
As Hamish has pointed out earlier, the Roar this year are all about 'the system'; and it's a system that other teams are having a hard time coping with. So Zullo being out shouldn't make that much of a difference, so long as the other players stick with 'the system'. Without Muscat, the Vics will likely struggle at the back. I think Melbourne might have a goal in them, but the Roar will have to prevail if they want to be serious contenders this year.

Phoenix 1 - SFC 1
Returning home should have been a boost for the Phoenix, but the loss of players to All Whites committments will hurt them. I think they'll learn from last week, and tighten things up against a SFC attack that's far narrower than the Roar's. With Sydney also disrupted, the Nix could steal a point here.

Reds 1 Jets 0
An interesting game between two teams who have seemingly lost their way in the past few weeks. At least the Reds tried hard against CCM, while the Jets were completely outplayed by Perth. Home ground advantage may just be enough to see Adelaide scrape home.

Glory 1 CCM 2
For all their bleating, Perth have named a pretty solid line-up for this game. Yes, they have short-term covers on the bench, but the core of their successful team from last week is still there. They should be more competitive than they were early in the season, but with Aloisi getting a taste for goals, it's hard to go past the Mariners in this one.

Cheers.
