With a Prayer to the Infinite (Tipping)

Oh ineffable infinite, so incomprehensible, unnameable and mysterious that whenever someone tries to describe, sculpt, name or literate you they turn into a goose, assuming the arrogant proposition that a mote is capable of speaking outwards with some impact, we plea that all the football games this week be enjoyable and exciting for all, with fair outcome, that they be contested in a spirit of excellence, humanity and sportsmanship, and that there be no injuries more serious than, say, a nastily grazed knee.

Tip away ladies and gentleman.

Adelaide 1 Perth 1

David Mitchell was right when he said Perth have nothing to lose in this game; so all the pressure will be on Adelaide. Anything less than a comprehensive win will be enough for the Reds, but without their Olyroos, I think they'll do it tough.

Melbourne 2 Wellington 1

The Vics have been shown up decisively in recent weeks, but it won't have escaped Ernie Merrick's (or Frank Farina's) attention that they're still only 7 points out of second spot going into this weekend. With the Roar having to play Sydney and Newcastle; while the Victory have Wellington and Perth, this could spell a 12-point turnaround for the Vics if they can pull it off. With the luck the Phoenix have had lately, I think they can at least manage the first leg.

Newcastle 0 Central Coast 2

The wheels are starting to fall off for the Jets, and I don't see them turning it around this weekend. The Mariners are doing just enough to win games, and should have enough in the tank to cruise through this one too.

Sydney 0 Roar 1

Frank Farina is right when he says this is one of the toughest road trips in the league. Any notion that the Roar can stroll into the SFS expecting to take 3 points is pure folly. This is going to be hard-fought and probably very tight. I expect one goal will take it out.

hamish, the frangipani is doing wonders...

Not only are the Roar winning, but your Foxsports Fantasy team was the best in the world (i use that term losely, but i'm sure there's the odd o/s person playing) for rd 13...some achievement, many congrats.

I'm watching my back.

In the meantime, I've taken some of your advice and drafted in a couple of Roarers, but in truth I'm not that confident they're gonna earn me much this week....

Looking forward to it though, should be a good one...

anybody notice that 12 year old is flying up the table, stop it Jacob, it's embarassing to us older types.

Hamish, you're supposed to be his dad, control him, ban him or something, ground him or whatever good parents should do, don't let him near the computer...
